Princess Maggie, you are the Queen of Dog Star. The mighty ruler over the little's. You are always happy, so very happy! And you make US so very happy! You lay in front of the door with not a care in the world, roll around on the ground with glee, and run and play with your fur-friends all day long. You don't look a day over two, nobody will believe that you are actually FIVE!

Maggie, you are such a joy! You are absolutely the sweetest. We love that we've been able to watch you grow and learn over the years. We love you, Maggie! May your day be filled with lots of treats, kisses, and hugs!

You are 2+2
Happy happy birthday
Happy happy birthday!

Dozer, you are such a special boy. It has been wonderful to be able to watch you learn and grow up to be the young (and handsome) man that you are today! You always have something to say in the morning when your mom drops you off, and you are always ready to tell us stories or sing us songs. Energy just pours out of you! At least until it is nap time where we can find you cuddling up with a fur-friend or curled into a ball as cute as a button! Happy birthday, Dozer! The age of four looks good on you!

Star Buddy: "Mona, smile!"

Mona is all puppy! She has more energy than six shots of espresso. Energizer Bunny? Forget it! Energizer Puppy! It didn't take this spunky gal much time to warm up to the Ranch, she was very much open to A LOT of scratches and a treat (or two), and after that instant best friends. Mona sure does love to play, especially hide and seek! There was never a dull moment watching this chiquita was a hoot and a half!

We are so glad to have this opportunity to get to know you better, Mona! We are excited to have you at the Ranch, you are such a lovely little lady :)

Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

How are you enjoying the Ranch, Piper?

I am having a splendid time! I've made so many fur-friends, and they are all so nice to me! Today was such a lovely day to go outside and play. We ran around the Star Buddy Park and then our Star Buddy took us to the POND!! The pond was so much fun. I went for a little swim and crawled around in the sand, and raced around the pond. Thanks for bringing me to Dog Star Ranch! I love it here! What a great vacation...

Where's Waldo?! I spy with my little eye THREE Golden's. Here we have Mister Bear, Mister Waldo, and Miss Gracie. Bear is Waldo's uncle, and the two came here on vacation together, not a nervous notion in their furry bodies, these two have made themselves right at home here at the Ranch, acting as if they've been coming here their whole lives! Waldo and Bear's excellent adjustment to their vacation at the Ranch might also have something to do with how wonderfully welcoming their fur-friends have been! Then Bear met Gracie, and the two hit it off instantly. And there is talk of a little romance between Bear and Gracie, as a Star Buddy saw the two cuddling up in the yard together!

Those silly Golden's sure did have fun on their run together, and had an absolute blast going to the pond with all their other fur-friends! It sure has been a great day!

Bailey is a social butterfly who gets along with all his fur-friends, and he has many! Ubi, Bella, Ridge, and Pluto are his community playmates for all his potty breaks. And when it is time to run and play out in the park him and his group of fur-friends join up with Kendal, Buster, Lita, Bruce, Jinx, and Ruby to go have fun, fun, fun! Him and his fur-friends really enjoy swimming at the pond and chasing each other to dry off! It is so wonderful to have Bailey as a guest at the Ranch, he is such a sweet boy!

"Hiya, mom and dad! Check out the pictures of my fur-friends and I having a blast at the pond today! I sure am having a great vacation! Love and miss you!" - Bailey

Hemi: How dirty am I, Cappy?

Cappy: Not nearly as dirty as I am!

Hemi: Dude, you are so dirty.

Cappy: Lily and I had this puddle going, we made the puddle.

Lily: It wasn't super big, but it sure was muddy!

Cappy: So I played in that for a little bit.

Hemi: You better go straight to the pond.

Cappy: So should you! Playing together makes you dirty by association.

Spring is rainy days, muddy puddles, splashing in the pond, and gettin' dirty! It is always a hoot to see the transformation of a fur-friend on a rainy, muddy puddle day. One second you have a Golden Retriever and the next you have a Chocolate Retriever!

Meet our newest fur-friend to join us for Daycare at the Ranch! Only a year old, we are excited to see Moses grow into the intelligent, polite young man that we just know he is going to be! Already we've seem him come out of his shell and make a fur-friend in Rango! Moses, you are such a sweet boy, and we love you so much already! You're all smiles :)

Rugar's Story

I just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with how Ruger has changed since we started bringing him to daycare every Tuesday. We decided to try daycare, because we felt he needed some socialization. He was skittish when anyone would come to the house. He would bark at them and jump when they tried to pet him. After going to Dog Star, we have noticed a HUGE difference!! :) He is calmer (he gets to run with the big dogs...haha... and btw... we never knew he liked water until we saw the picture on Facebook yesterday of him in the pond! He would not even go near the pool last year. It will be interesting to see what  he does this year! haha) and this past weekend our son stopped by, and Ruger barked once, but then went up to him with wagging tail and let him pet him. The last time our son was here, he was terrified of him. A HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped Ruger come out of his shell! We are really pleased with how he has been helped since going there :) “

Meet Ziggy! It is his first time vacationing here at the Ranch, and oh man is he loving it! He has met and made so many fur-friends here during his stay. He really loves it when the Star Buddies give him morning back scratches. He is having so much fun socializing with his other vacationing (boarding) fur-friends, and loves meeting and making friends with our other little (and big) daycare fur-friends too! Thanks for hanging out with us at the Ranch, Ziggy!

Clarence: It's so shallow.
Emma: Clarence, you can only see my head!
Bowie: That is because you're short, Emma.
Emma: I'm a Dane!
Bowie: A short Dane.
Clarence: Now, now! It's not my fault I'm so tall!
Emma: And why aren't you swimming, Bowie?!
Bowie: Because! I'm a wader.

Clarence, Emma, and Bowie LOVED swimming at the pond today!

Where has puppy Ace gone!? We remember your puppy breath and huge puppy paws. We remember you being shy at first, and then watching you break out of your shell and blossom into an outgoing handsome young man! We love being able to say that we have been able to watch you grown into the young man that you are today. You've learned so much, grown so much, and have made so many fur-friends at the Ranch! You are a bright boy with an even brighter future! You are most definitely the best card in the deck! We love you and we hope that you enjoyed your birthday with your fur-friends at the pond!

Happy 1st birthday, Ace!

Happy Birthday Maggie!

On May 5th, 2005, the world got a little bit better and a whole lot cooler when Maggie came around. When it comes to Maggie's older brother, Gandalf, and younger (but much bigger) brother, Rori, she is the BOSS! Don't be fooled by Maggie's size, she is one tough chica!
Maggie, you don't look a day past two, and you are such a puppy at heart! Thank you for all your love! Have a happy 10th Birthday beautiful!

Upcoming special items for May 2015

Wow, it looks like May is here and ready to roll!  I sure how you all were able to enjoy this beautiful weekend we just had!  This month we have a couple of fun things on our schedule that I’d like to make sure you know about.

* Pack Walk –> This is an hour leashed walk in the park with the DSR trainers.  It’s a great option to work on leash manners with other dogs!  We need to have a minimum of 3 dogs prescheduled by the day before at 4:00 pm to allow the trainer time to plan appropriately.  The Pack Walk is $20 per dog (10% discount for Sirius Star Park Members).
May’s Pack Walk:  Monday, May 11 at 5:00 pm

* Frisbee “Test” –> Are you curious to know if your dog has the ability for Frisbee activities?  We will be holding a Frisbee “test” to challenge your dog and see if he/she has the natural drive for Frisbee work.  If we have a big enough interest in Frisbee games and activities, we’ll be adding a class to our summer schedule.   We need to have a minimum of 3 dogs prescheduled by the day before to have and the cost is $10 per dog.
Saturday, May 16 at 9:00 am to 9:30/10 am

If you are interested in either of the above sessions, please call (231)766-044 to schedule.   These are both weather permitting as they need to be outdoors to have.  Have a great rest of your week and thank you for choosing Dog Star Ranch to give your dog somethin’ to bark about this May!

The DayStar of the Month for April 2015 is Max Cole!!!!

We sure have one handsome DayStar of the Month of April!  He has golden blonde locks surrounding a big smile, brown eyes, and a waggin’ tail.  I’m tellin’ ya, he could be a cover model!  Yet don’t let that totally fool ya, as he’s a clown under that shiny exterior.  Our DayStar of the Month for April 2015 is none other than Mr. Max Cole!  Max is a special boy that has been coming to the Ranch since October 2012 and back then he was a little fluff ball of Golden Retriever puppy!  Boy how time does fly!  His best fur friend is a Mastiff named Beauregard.  These two are two peas in a pod!  When I watch Max play I’m reminded of a childhood character known as Tigger.  He bounces and plays just like he was still a pup.  He’s a rock star everywhere he goes at the Ranch and we always love to see him!  We are so happy to share that Mr. Max Cole has been voted the DayStar of the Month for April 2015!!  Congrats to Max and thank you to his mom and dad for sharing him with us!

Did you know about the Dog Star Ranch Dog-Gone-Waggin' for transportation services for your pup?!?

I hope that all is well with you and that you are able to get out and enjoy this beautiful start to May!  Spring seems to finally be here.  Did you know that we offer transportation to and from the Ranch for doggie daycare (and overnight boarding)!!  Our Dog-Gone-Waggin’ goes to Spring Lake, Grand Haven, and Fruitport areas on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  We also go to Muskegon, North Muskegon, and Montague on Mondays in addition to Tuesday, Thursdays, and Fridays.  The morning pick-ups are generally between 7:30 – 9:30 am with the deliveries between 3:30 – 5:00 pm (the time varies depending on the dogs on the route).  It is a great option for parents to know that we can get their dog and bring them to the Ranch for daycare, even when they have a busy day and can’t drive them up themselves.  The transportation is $30 round trip.  The first time we do this we do ask that the owners are present to make the transition easy for your pup and the driver, Diane.  We have a large number of puppy parents that have their fur kids on a regular schedule and the dogs love it!  They seem to be sitting in their windows watch and waiting for the bus to pull in on their days.

We are currently looking to add more stops on our route.  If you are in the Fremont area and are interested in transportation for your pup to the Ranch for doggie daycare, we are looking at possibly Tuesdays and Thursdays incorporating that into Diane’s route.

We are playing with the idea of a morning “bus stop” at Lewis Farm Market on M-20 for those in Hart, Shelby, and New Era on Monday mornings, playing around with the idea of 7 am.  For those that are interested we would make sure to schedule your pup so our driver, Diane, knows who she is getting and how many dogs to plan for.  We wouldn’t be going back in the afternoon, so you would have to come to the Ranch at the end of the day, but we are hoping that by doing the morning run it makes using doggie daycare a little easier.  Due to the fact that we would only be doing a one way instead of a round trip, the cost would be $15 for the transportation.  If we have enough interest in this spot being round trip we will look at that as an option also.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Dog-Gone-Waggin’ or any of our Ranch services, please call (231)766-0444 today!  Thank you for choosing Dog Star Ranch to give your dog somethin’ to bark about today!
