Pictured above is Rebel. And today is her birthday, she is SEVEN years old! She is no stranger to Dog Star Ranch; she is a regular fur-friend for our daycare group. She loves to come and hang out with her friends. Rebel has been coming to Dog Star ever since she was a wee little puppy-girl. Our Rebel has always been adorable. She is just as spunky and energetic as the first day we met her. Her age has not slowed her down one bit! She LOVES to swim at the pond and when she is done gallivanting around, she enjoys cat naps on the couch in Pup Paradise. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, REBEL! We love you :)
Dog Star Ranch is a place of friendship. It is all about making friends: human friends, furry friends, furry/human friends. Today, I had the opportunity to witness Capone (pictured above) become friends with Lefty (pictures can be found on flickr, link to follow). It was a wonderfully hilarious moment. All friendships develop differently. Some require to be baked over time, but Capone and Lefty, their friendship was instantly brewed. Their bubbly chemistry as they frolicked about, not only does it make them smile but it makes the Star Buddy smile as well. And at Dog Star Ranch our forever goal is all about the smiles :)
There is nothing that a Star Buddy loves more than to see a puppy running towards you.
Our fur-friends love to run. The excitement in their dance; the anticipation in their eager eyes as the Star Buddy opens each gate. One step closer to the park. One step closer to the pond. Our fur-friends look at us, begging our meager human selves to move faster, to please hurry it up. And then. Finally. The holy gate of freedom. To watch our fur-friends run with such spirit, to hear their paws thrum against the ground, it is truly an endearing sight. Darting and dashing here and there as blurs in the sunlight it is sometimes hard to catch a picture, but with enough luck and enough patience small moments are captured for our, and your, pleasure. So enjoy a look! See the link below:

It is always fun to watch our fur-friends interact with each other. Whether playing by the pond or in the park, our fur-friends love to play chase/tag. Like a stampede of wild horses, our fur-friends gallivant around the park and pond with pure excitement.

Miles (pictured above) sits handsomely by the pond.
There are many ways to get a dog to smile while here at Dog Star Ranch. Sometimes a funny joke, other times a good belly rub. But what gets our fur-friends really smiling is the pond. On a hot summer day it is a refreshing treat for our swimmers and fishers alike. Our furry-friends are the only ones allowed to swim in the pond but that does not mean that they are the only ones that get wet. Our fur-friends make sure that we get plenty wet/refreshed right along with them. Each fur-friend has their own technique to getting their human friends refreshed. Poppy enjoys the hug approach. Barney prefers to lean. And all partake in the "I'm going to shake off next to you" approach. Or, if our fur-friends think we need extra loving, they will team up and surround us in a group hug. No matter how wet our human selves get the pond is always a great time for us and our fur-friends.

George (pictured above) was feeling quite handsome today while out for a run. His other furry friends had a ball splashing around in the pond. Check out our other fur-tastic friends by clicking on the link. They are tail waggin' adorable.
Friday, July 4, 2014 Dog Star Ranch office and doggie dacyare will be CLOSED in honor of the holiday. We will re-open for our normal business hours on Saturday, July 5 from 9 am to 12 pm. Thank you to all the service men and women out there who provide us with the freedoms and independence that we have!
I’ll give you some clues… Our DayStar of the Month is a gray boy, often
times in photos he’s a blur as he’s running by, ears flappin’ in the
breeze. If you ever do see a “still
photo” of him he has a big grin on his face.
He’s a lean, mean, athletic machine!
Any guesses yet? Of course, it’s
Mack Stuckey! Mack is a happy Weimeraner
that started coming to the Ranch a year ago today. He comes several days a week to play with his
daycare buds, but also comes to the parks with his mom and dad to enjoy a walk
together. As long as he can run and
investigate the parks, he’s a happy camper.
He’s a Star on his runs and a Star in the grooming salon for his
pampering. Mr. Mack we are so happy to
have gotten to know you over the past year and we look forward to many more
happy memories in the years to come!
Congrats to Mack Stuckey as you were unanimously voted the DayStar of
the Month for June 2014!
