Wow, could Spring Time actually be making it to
West Michigan?!? All of us at Dog
Star Ranch sure do hope so!! Birds are
chirping, the air is fresh, flowers are trying to pop up, and we can smell the
dirt! Now that we can actually see some
blades of grass, I wanted to send over some park updates and reminders.
“Poop Oops” Season: What does this mean? I’m sure over the winter there may have been a time or two that you missed a pile from your dog. As you see piles that have been lost in the snow popping up from the thaw, please help us clean up the parks and scoop it up. So when you start your walk, grab a couple extra bags and thank you for your help in keeping our parks clean and healthy for everyone to enjoy!
1. Your dog has to be a park member.
2a. Currently, actively participating in a Chillity (Chill / Fun – Agility) class.
2b. You have taken a Chillity class in the past at the Ranch.
** If you would like to practice on the course, you do need to contact the office first so we know that you are out there. All of these rules are for your own safety and the safety of your dog. At this point we are still planning to start a new Chillity class on Thursday, April 17 at . If you are interested in joining a class contact the office at (231)766-0444. The only reason this class may be postponed is if the weather situation is still unfavorable (snow or spring flooding).
Ponds: They are not open yet, but will be as soon as we feel they are safe. When they do open, just as a reminder, they are for dogs to swim in only, no humans.
Central Bark Reminder: What does it mean that this park is “yield to those on leashes?” Central Bark is the cross roads of the parks much like a Grand Central Station. To come and go or pass from one park to the next, you need to cross through Central Bark. If you are at a gate and want to enter Central Bark, first look around. If no one is in there you have the option to enter on or off leash. If someone else is in there first, to enter, you must follow suit or wait for them to pass. This is for everyone’s safety! If you need more clarification on this, please email me and I’ll gladly answer your questions.
Dates to mark on your calendars:
April 4 through April 14: Spring Break at the Ranch! Safe travels everyone!
April 15: Basic 1 and Basic 2 classes starting back up.
April 17: Chillity classes starting back up.
April 30: Canine Behavioral and Educational Seminar – learn about what your dog is saying to you or other dogs around them.

** For more information on any of these events, please call (231)766-0444 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
April showers bring May flowers. April showers also bring muddy, dirty dogs! To all those that use the daycare program, this is the perfect opportunity to start the Spruce Me Up special if you haven’t already!! These 50% off baths and nail trims are a great way to let your dog play and not bring the entire dirt and sand home with them. Does your pup qualify??
1. Come to daycare weekly
2. Get a bath at least monthly (can do more than that also)
To start, just let the office know! Your first bath would be at full price, but each bath their after is 50% off each month!

Spring is in the air (we think) and the snow is starting to melt! That means that poop piles that were lost in the snowy abyss are now surfacing. I'm sure you may have missed a pile or two from your dog this winter unintentionally. Please help each other out and as you see piles that have been missed, please pick it up. We are doing the same every chance we get! Thank you for your help in keeping our parks looking great!
It may not feel like it yet, but welcome to the start of SPRING!

I almost can’t believe my eyes! The sun is shining and it’s about 20 degrees! Maybe spring is really on the way in! I had some updates and information that I wanted to send over regarding our Socials on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
* If you are planning to attend a Social (either day) please call or email to let our staff know. If no one is on the schedule, the trainers are unable to prepare appropriately.
* When you come for a Social, please check in with the front desk as the location of the Social depends on the weather. Once we are able to, weather wise, the Socials will move out into the parks! Also if you are waiting over by the training room door, we are unable to see you from the office to let the trainers know that you are here.
* There will be NO SOCIALS on the following dates. These are during Spring Break that is a very busy time for us and our trainers are needed to assist.
April 2, Wednesday
April 5, Saturday
April 6, Wednesday
April 12, Saturday
** If you have any questions regarding the parks or our Socials, please let us know. Socials are on Wednesdays from and Saturdays from . We ask to have at least three people prescheduled by the day before to hold a Social. They are free for park members and $20 for non-members.
Thank you and have a great day!!

DayStar of the Month ~ February 2014
Drum roll please…. We are super excited to announce that a special Boxer girl was voted the DayStar of the Month! Congrats to Greta Fodrocy as you are Miss February! Greta has been a daycare regular since March 2011. She is an energetic girl that just loves to play and run. Mud puddle, you bet she’ll find it! Snow, that won’t slow this girl down! Heat and sunshine, she’ll play all day if we let her. Anytime of day that you see her, she is always smiling ear to ear. No one can walk by without smiling back at her. Greta is a great girl and we all love sharing the days with you! Congratulations as we are happy to share that Greta Fodrocy was voted the DayStar of the Month for February!
