"Howdy!" feat. George

Dearest George,

Although you were the tiniest of our group, excluding Little Bear because he didn't go on our run, you have a spunk and spirit that greatly surpasses your little body. We enjoyed your presence today a great amount. Thank you for hanging out with us today, and we would really love to see you come back. We have a ton more fur-friends who would LOVE to meet you. Each of us wanted to say a little something to you, so each of us contributed a few words to say to you. First, we would like to say how adorable you are. "I wish I could take him home" was said by the majority, but we all know that 1. Your mom would miss you and 2. Our parents wouldn't be too happy to find out that we took a little puppy home! Second, we LOVE how much energy you have! You are a little Energizer battery. You just keep going and going and going... Anyways, even though it was your first day and you were suppose to be all shy and hide in a corner, you didn't! It was hilarious to watch you wander underneath of us and around our legs (being that most of us were taller than you). I especially liked it when you tried to hide from Marla under my legs, I thought that it was pretty cute. And third, we would like to invite you into our weird and diverse little fur-friends family! We love you and loved having you. That is all we've got to say, so we hope to see you again!

Love you, George!

Maggie, Mack, Buddy, Mac, Nova, Buddy, Millie, Lexi, Ruby, Boo, Marla, Milo, Dickens, and everyone else here at the Ranch!

Dearest Momma,

I had so much fun at Daycare today! And I was such a good boy. I wasn't scared or anything. Okay, well maybe a little scared. But all the friends I made were really nice! There is this one fur-friend, Mack, and he is big! He was nice, but he was also crazy! He wanted to play with me but he was too big. I think he thought he was little too though. He would crouch down in front of me and hop around like a bunny. He was silly. Millie was nice too. She is pretty... I really like Maggie too. She is the nicest fur-lady ever. She let me hide under her when Marla was trying to catch me in tag. Marla is nice too. She is a Poodle and she has a very fancy haircut. It is so poofy! Can I have fur like that? Noooo...I would look silly! I am really excited to be here and I like all the friends that I made! Thanks for bringing me Daycare! I will tell you more tonight.

Love you!

A Dogs View:

Today we got to check out a run out in the park from Bode and then Sampson's point of view! Check out the videos below to see!

"Dude, did you just see that?" feat. Woodrow and Sampson

An overheard conversation between Woodrow and Sampson.

Woodrow: How big was it?
Sampson: It was pretty big.
Woodrow: That big?!
Sampson: Bigger.
Woodrow: Whoa...
Sampson: Maybe I'll get one for Christmas.
Woodrow: That would be legit.
Woodrow: Did you just see that?!
Sampson: See what?!?
Woodrow: Barkley is so weird.
Sampson: He's okay. Kinda a big mouth.
Woodrow: Well you've got a big head.
Sampson: Hey now! You're the one calling him weird!
Woodrow: So I saw a squirrel yesterday.
Sampson: Did you chase it?
Woodrow: Thought about it, but I was tired.
Sampson: I wish it was warmer. I want to go to the pond.
Woodrow: I think we should go shopping for sweaters. I think I would like a camo vest.
Sampson: That would look good on you. What are you going to be for Halloween?
Woodrow: I have several costume ideas. I probably won't decide until the night of. You?
Sampson: Eh, I don't know either. Whatever my mom puts me in I guess.

It is always fun to imagine what our fur-friends might be saying to each other!

Bexter's Birthday Cheer!

I'm goofy,
I'm cute,
I'm energetic to boot,
I've got great hair

I smile
I'm flyin'.
Come love me
Come play
It's my birthday
Do as I say!

Our big boy Bexter turns SEVEN today! Bexter is an old man by age but not by heart! He has the spirit of a puppy. This sweet boy, or should I say MAN, loves to be outside with his sister, Kimby. Bexter enjoys trotting around the parks and chasing his sister. We are happy to have you as a fur-friend at Dog Star, Bexter! Have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

"Hey..." feat. Rosey
Various Stages of Excitement:
Stage One: Not Excited At All Phase
How is this even a stage might you ask. Well, because in this stage the excitement is dormant, it does not exist yet. The fur-friend doesn't realize that they are about to have a lot of fun.
Stage Two: Tail Waggin' Phase
Every fur-friend at the Ranch goes through this phase. Whether they are excited for a treat, potty time, breakfast, hanging out with their fur-friends, etc. We love to see happy waggin' tails and smiling faces.
Stage Three: Nearly Drag Mom/Dad Down the Walkway to the Door Phase
These are our pullers. They know what they want and where they are going to go. They will take mom and/or dad straight to the door and then they will take me straight to the yard that they think that they are going to.  Another part of this stage is Don't Even Need Mom/Dad to Walk Me to the Door (I'm talking about you Beauregard!). These fur-friends, as long as the door is held open for them, just walk themselves into the office, ready for their great day to begin!
Stage Four: The Impatient Waiter Phase
The impatient waiters are those who either scratch at the door or squish their face against the glass waiting to see if the Star Buddy has come yet. You also have impatient waiters who very politely sit at the door and bark until you FINALLY arrive. And then they bark all the way down the hall because you aren't letting them pull you as fast as they would like to.
Stage Five: Bounce Up and Down Phase
Bella I. is an great example of this stage. You can always count on her sitting at the gate and bobbing up and down until you let her out. Speaking of Bobber, Bobber is another excellent example of this Stage. Bobber lives up to her name that is for sure! She is the Queen of Bouncing up and down with excitement.
Stage Six: Tinkle a Little Because I'm So Excited Phase
These fur-friends are just so excited that if they wore pants, they would have peed their pants.
Stage Seven: The Lefty Stage
The amount of excitement that little ole Lefty packs surpasses all previous stages mentioned. If you have a Lefty excited fur-friend, then you've got a pretty excited fur-friend on your hands. Lefty is his own kind of excitement. If you've ever seen the move "Flubber," that is Lefty. Bounce him once and if you're not careful he is going to bounce EVERYWHERE. We love that Lefty is THAT excited to come to Dog Star.
What Stage of Excitement does your fur-baby match? Or like Lefty, do they have a Stage all their own? I know that Cappy and Hemi are two that I know of that have a Stage of their own! The Happy Cappy Stage which coincides with the Hemi's Cappy Dance. We hope you all have a wonderful day!

"Wait, I Blinked!" feat. Tillie

"Ooh, that smell
Can't you smell that smell?
Ooh, that smell
The smell of death surrounds you, yeah."

The universe does many a great and wonderful things. One being, and with perfectly timed chance, is playing "Ooh That Smell" by Lynyrd Skynyrd just as Jackson walks away from a fart, leaving the smell for me under the desk. So yeah, I smelled. The smell of death surrounded me. It smelled like a warm pile of poop, but minus the poop.

Today was a hill, I wouldn't go as far as to call it a roller coaster, but I am confident in calling it a hill. It was a cold morning, which was to be expected. My fur-friends and I hurried our way outside to go potty (them, not me) and back in for breakfast. My daycare friends started to arrive and I was excited to see all their smiling faces. Seems like a great day so far, right? But my attempt to be nice to myself and all others by picking up poop at a fur-friend politely left in the walkway, I stepped in another pile hiding underneath the stones. Great. It's fine, it's fine, I told myself. I can wash it off easily and be on with it. Wrong. Omitting all the times that I ran into the doors and gates, what really threw my day of was shutting my fingers in the door. It hurt. I haven't shut my fingers in a door in a long time, and I advice avoiding it. My day did not keep going downhill though! It eventually did plateau. My fur-friends kissed my fingers better and they made me smile with their goofball behavior. There is nothing like a fur-friend to turn your day around. Whether they know it or not, they always make my day better.

"We Dance For The Sun" feat. Lily and Tango

The sun's warm kisses melted the ground, but what she left untouched, frost remained.
The air smells cold and the colored leaves, or at least those left hanging on by their fragile stems, remind me of the warmth that summer shared. I didn't give my car a head start this morning and it was coated in frost. As I waited for the heat to conquer the cold I wondered if maybe I should put gloves on when I got to work. I didn't, and each time my hand caressed the gate a shivering shock numbed my fingertips. My contact with the metal was as brief as the contact one has with a hot pot.

I love fall, but it hasn't been fall for that long, and yet there are cringe worthy weather reports with the words "chances of snow." I'm not ready I tell you, not ready at all. Give me one more time with a nice fall day. A day so nice that maybe the dogs and I can venture to the pond. Does it all have to be gone so quick?

"Playground Song" feat. Tango and Molly

Tango and Molly
out in the SBP,
First comes chasing,
then comes tackling,
then comes two tuckered pups
ready for naps!

Watching these two play was downright hilarious! Except for the part where they thought that it would be funny to play in between my legs and they almost chopped me down like a tree. No amount of coffee, energy drink, or spoonfuls of sugar could ever get my energy to match Tango and Molly's. It's that puppy energy, the kind of energy that I will never get back! Anyways, I guess I will just have to live vicariously through them! Have a splendid and energetic day everyone!

"Monday" feat. Cooper

Monday's can be RUFF. Take Cooper's word for it. He had just the most miserable morning ever (but not really)! His chatty neighbor woke him up and invited him to share a cup of coffee, or maybe to read the paper with him. No, Cooper wanted to sleep. But then he couldn't fall back asleep because he had to go to the bathroom, but he didn't want to get out of bed because he was comfortable. When he couldn't take it anymore, he hobbled out of bed to go to the bathroom and then he decided that since he was up that he might as well socialize with his neighbors. Cooper brightened up at breakfast because I mean, it's breakfast! Cooper then relaxed in bed reading his book, Marley and Me. He already saw the movie, so he knows how it ends. When Cooper got to a good stopping point, he decided that it was time for his morning run. He went out to the Star Buddy park where he met up with several of his friends. He met up with Mack and they romped around for a bit. Cooper let out a big yawn and plopped down on the bed of sand. He is not the best at being a morning person, so a mid-morning nap seemed like an appropriate thing to do. However, that did not happen! Not when all of his friends were begging for his attention. Thankfully Cooper went back to his room where he comfortably took a nap outside.

I personally feel bad for Monday. I mean, how many people actually like Monday. How many of you like Monday? We are always looking forward to Friday. Friday is the cool kid that everyone wants to hang out with. Monday is the teacher that always gives you a ton of homework on the weekend. I think that we should all take some time to love Monday. Cooper took the time to love Monday, and what a great day he had! He moved at the speed of a turtle, took time to smell the entire perimeter of the park, and he even made a new friend! Monday, we love ya!

"Hello My Name Is..." feat. Quincy (and Dixie)
Say hello to Quincy! This handsome Boston Terrier had his first day of Daycare today. Quincy, an adorable little homebody, embarked on a great journey today. Dropped off by his dad, Quincy wasn't quite sure what kind of adventure he was getting himself into. He couldn't on whether or not to be excited. Like most on their first day for anything, Quincy was nervous, quiet, and shy. Quincy had a list of several worries; he was worried that he wouldn't make friends, worried about how his day was going to go, and he even worried about whether or not he would smell good to the other fur-friends. But as soon as Quincy met all of our little fur-friends, and they seemed okay with how he smelled, Quincy came out of his shell rather quickly.
Quincy strolled with Gandalf and Maggie. Him and Maggie, similar in personality, really hit it off. Both stayed near each other and enjoyed each others presence as they walked around the park.
Quincy is such a silly boy, he loved rolling around in the grass with Gandalf.

Thank you for hanging out with us today Quincy! We are so happy that you had a great first day of Daycare!

"Fall" feat. Finnegan
Out of the four seasons, Fall is by far my favorite. I watch in slow motion as the world changes from lively greens to burnt oranges, fiery reds, and warm browns. It beholds this unique beauty. It limbos between dying and death. It is the last breath of Summer before Winter coats us with unpredictable snowfall. It is full of Mythology and Harvest.
Fall is made of many things: sweaters, blankets, soup, hot apple cider, apple cinnamon donuts...the list could go on. Fall makes me want to cuddle up with a delicious book of Fiction, or a warm cup of Poetry. Speaking of poetry, and speaking of dogs, Mary Oliver. Such a woman, such a poet exists who loves dogs as much as Dog Star loves dogs (and I am sure that there are many others). Mary Oliver has a book of poetry called "Dog Songs," and it is really quite wonderful. I've decided on a couple quotes that are my favorite.

"Be prepared. A dog is adorable and noble.
A dog is a true and loving friend. A dog
is also a hedonist."
Isn't that what we all should be? A hedonist. Life is made up of many things. Many great and terrible things. But what is life without pleasure? Happiness is made up of simple every day pleasures, happiness is made up of pleasures that we seek out. And the most important thing to life is enjoying the pleasure of living.
We can learn how to be hedonist's just by watching our fur-friends. A chewed up Frisbee found in the pond becomes new to Finnegan. He relishes in the fact that he can play fetch. It is so easy to take something so simple as finding a used Frisbee to find pleasure.
Another favorite by Mary Oliver is this one:
"But I want to extol not the sweetness nor the placidity of the dog, but the wilderness out of which he cannot step entirely, and from which we benefit. For wilderness is our first home too, and in our wild ride into modernity with all its concerns and problems we need also all the good attachments to that origin that we can keep or restore. Dog is one of the messengers of that rich and still magical first world. The dog would remind us of the pleasures of the body with its graceful physicality, and the acuity and rapture of the senses, and the beauty of forest and ocean and rain and our own breath. There is not a dog that romps and runs but we learn from him...Because of the dog’s joyfulness, our own is increased.

The other dog—the one that all its life walks leashed and obedient down the sidewalk—is what a chair is to a tree. It is a possession only, the ornament of a human life. Such dogs can remind us of nothing large or noble or mysterious or lost. They cannot make us sweeter or more kind.

Only unleashed dogs can do that. They are a kind of poetry themselves when they are devoted not only to us but to the wet night, to the moon and the rabbit-smell in the grass and their own bodies leaping forward.”
I love Mary Oliver's perspective on the world, a perspective learned from the perspective of a dog. Because what we miss, our fur-friends catch. Seek out pleasure, return to that magical first world. Take a lesson in life from a dog, you never know what you might learn!

"First Smile Is Free, Second One Will Cost A Scratch" feat. Riley
Karma is a force to be reckoned with. At the end of each day every good and bad deed are tallied up, much like a pro and con list, whichever one outweighs the other is the deciding factor for the day to come. Yesterday had me shouting Why! up to the sky, asking what I did to deserve the soaking that I received.  Now, whether you believe in karma or not (I do sometimes), I felt like I needed to correct yesterday's wrongs so that today could be right. And what better way to clear the board of a bad day other than by taking a nap!

My days spent with our fur-friends has seeped its way into my brain, my fur-friends have barked their way into my subconscious. I dreamed about my day in a much better light. It was a beautiful day. Not an unrealistic beautiful, but it wasn't raining. It was a quaint Fall day. All my fur-friends were happy and well-behaved. They did hilarious things like talk to me and perform back-flips, cartwheels, and somersaults. And as weird as my dream was, it helped! It turned my day around and I looked forward to tomorrow (which is today).
Today, competing with yesterday, surpassed it in quality by a long shot. Although there was a slight drizzle this morning, my coffee was on point and my fur-friends were at their best. Riley came in smelling like a man! Old Man Kirby didn't have an accident to clean up. Runs were a blast! Ska helped trim up a tree by breaking off a branch, and then she proceeded to eat it, but she also shared! Many great pictures were taken. There were so many smiling faces!
I am always so happy to see you all (my fur-friends) bright and early. I love the conversations we share (sometimes one-sided). Thank you fur-friends for making my day so great!

"I Heart Water" feat. Sampson

This photograph could not speak more truth. It describes today with a great amount of honesty; speaking what I feel and expressing what I cannot. I, Queen of the Words, deem today 'Lay In A Puddle' Day.

What has this weather done to me (I apologize in advance if my thoughts scatter themselves). It teases me so, lying and deceiving me all morning. Granted I could have watched the weather report last night, or looked it up this morning, but that spoils the surprise of the day! I was warm so I shed my layers and cursed myself in the process by saying "I know that it's going to rain," and headed out on my first run. It started to rain. Naturally. My appearance now matches that of the dogs. Wet.

The rain crept its wetness up my pants, and down, until they met at the knees. My glasses were useless to me, my vision was going to be blurred no matter what. I was involved in a mud fight, to which I lost miserably. To my defense I was outnumbered. Five against one doesn't seem very fair. And I couldn't technically fight back because who throws mud at a dog?! I was pushed out of the way. Jumped on more times than I could keep track of. And the rain never cut me a break.

But I couldn't say no to the happiness that my fur-friends were radiating, as if making a Sun of their own. And I ate chocolate cake before eleven o' clock. So really, who is the real winner here?

Anna: 1
Today: 0

Now, back to the picture. Why does Sampson laying in that big puddle of water describe today perfectly? Because sometimes you have to take the day as it is. Puddles and all.

Did I get wet? Yes. My pants feel painted on. But more importantly, did I survive? Yes. And did I laugh and/or smile today? ...maybe. Today was by no means a normal day, but who wants normal anyways.

"Tell Me I'm Pretty" feat. Dexter

Meet my friend Dexter!
He is a special boy who likes to help me write the blog (although I think he went a little excessive with the space bar).
Dexter loves to skip and hop around outside on his run with his friends. He is one energetic fluff ball! Dexter loves to have cuddle time with his human friends, and you won't ever hear him say no to a massage! He may be small, but Dexter has got a big heart, he is such a sweetheart. He loves to play with the big boys, but he also enjoys his time with his small friends (sometimes his big friends forget about his little size). Dexter, despite the dreary weather, had a wonderful day today. Thank you Dexter for being such a good boy and making today just a little bit brighter!

"Birthday" feat. Hemi
Hemi, in his one year of life so far, has such a spirit that will keep him young forever. He is just as rambunctious and energetic as when he was a puppy, just bigger! Hemi has been coming to Dog Star ever since he could remember. Many of our Star Buddy's remember him as the tiny adorable puppy, except now he is the BIG adorable puppy that we all love. We love being a part of Hemi's life! Watching him grow and learn, he is such a smart boy. Hemi met Cappy, his best friend, here. On days when Hemi knows that Cappy is here, he does the 'cappy' dance. They are inseparable from each other. And although Hemi and Cappy started out the same size, Hemi has grown much taller than his friend, but everybody needs a tall best friend! Hemi loves to swim. He enjoys running, the wind blowing his ears back as he chases his friends around. If Hemi were human he would be the silly, fun athlete who sometimes gets into a little bit of trouble, but nothing too serious that would get him kicked off the football team. Hemi is a goofball and a sweetheart. Happy Birthday, Hemi! We love you and are so happy that you to have you as a fur-friend!

"Leader of the Pack" feat. Ska, Indy, Emma, & Gabrielle

I truly enjoy the morning; especially before the sun crawls out of its grave and makes its appearance, transforming night into day. I am entranced by the stars. With a cloudless sky I cannot resist staring up, searching for constellations. I talk to the man on the moon. I, along with our boarding fur-friends, watch as we exit the building one group at a time, the sky change from shades of dark to shades of light. Yesterday, we watched an Eclipse! And today, we woke up to frost. My mornings, although sometimes very hectic with community plays, cleaning up messes, daycare arrivals, and breakfast, are the most enjoyable calming part of my day. For those short moments that I am outside in the crisp of the morning, leaving my finger marks on frosted gate latches, I just love it. And then I think about anyone who lives in the vicinity of Dog Star and I wonder if they can hear our fur-friends and myself talking. Whether inside or outside, our fur-friends only know how to talk in outside voices! This job makes me so appreciative of nature. We (fur-friends included) celebrate the nice days, and we all mourn on the rainy days. Today was a great day! New friends were made, runs had, trees were climbed, and lots of pictures were taken. We hope you all enjoyed your day as much as we enjoys ours!

Welcome to Fall at Dog Star Ranch!

Join in the Spooktacular Halloween at Dog Star Ranch!

Every year we do a little get together in October to celebrate the fall season and give pet parents a change to show us their creative sides with canine costumes.  This past June we had a celebration event to commemorate our 10 year anniversary so instead of having another event for the fall, we have a different idea in mind.  We are going to throw a party for our daycare dogs!  Friday, October 31, 2014 we are invited all pet parents to bring their pups out to the Ranch for a day of daycare!  During that day, they will have their usual activities and runs in the park, but in the afternoon we’ll have some extra fun!  Parents are encouraged to bring costumes and we’ll dress their pup up and take photos to share with all.

When:           Friday, October 31, 2014
Where:         Dog Star Ranch, 4200 Whitehall Road, Muskegon, Mi 49445
Time:             Regular daycare hours are between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm.
** First time users must wait until 9 am to check in.

To help us plan ahead, please pre-schedule with the office.    Is your pup new to the Ranch and you’d like him/her to participate in the fun?  Call and schedule a temperament test prior to October 31 and your furry family member will be ready for all the fun and festivities.
Follow our blog or for the most up to date information on the day’s events.  We hope to see you all there!

"Life Is Good" feat. Kirby

Kirby enjoys the simple things in life. He enjoys his early morning community plays and breakfast a great deal, except for having to take all his old man pills, but really he can't complain.
Kirby enjoys beautiful women and a good scratch. But what makes Kirby feel most alive is that crisp fall breeze blowing through his hair. Don't be fooled by Kirby's old age! This big lovable guy is still a puppy at heart!

"Just Out Of Reach" feat. Rusty

Rusty comes into the room, and as if getting chased by a bee, spins around several times before setting down his ball. Rusty takes a moment to show of his pride and joy to me. Shorter than most Retrievers, Rusty makes up for his height difference with his exuberance. He looks comfortable in his soft, fall coat.
Diving right into our interview I ask Rusty all about his special love, his ball.
How did you come to find the ball?
"Ever since my arrival I have been searching high and low for a ball everyday since I've been here. This particular ball happened to me by chance."
By chance?
"Yeah, I saw it stranded in the fence, so stuck that no matter how hard I tried to retrieve (no pun intended) it, it was simply not going to budge. Until fate."
Until fate? So you believe in fate?
"Most certainly! Yes, fate (I had no part in popping it from the fence where it was placed at all...). You know how there is that saying where life sometimes throws you a bone, well in my case it was a ball. I saw fate throw me a ball. From the fence it flew right into my path."
What did you feel when you finally had what you had been searching for for so long?
"From that moment on I became determined not to lose sight of it. This ball means the world to me."
Throughout our run I witnessed you have a few minor panic attacks when it came to your ball, I ask Rusty as he holds the ball between his front paws what the cause of those panic attacks was.
Rusty chuckles as he shakes his head. "I have no better way to say it other than that I was being straight up weird. Like a crazy overprotective parent. See, I would put the ball down, as part of our game where I put the ball down and pick it back up, except I would forget that I had to pick it back up with my mouth instead of my paws. Do you know how hard it is for a dog to pick up a ball with his paws?"
Apparently it's very hard.
"Yes, very! So anyways, then I would start freaking out because I couldn't pick the ball back up. And then I would start thinking that maybe Lucky was going to try and steal it from me. Or that it might roll away, so that is when I started to dig. For some reason I thought that by me digging at the ball it would help me get it, expect then it would start to get covered by dirt and I wouldn't see it anymore and I would start digging more."

So how did you get the ball back?
"Eventually I just had to tell myself to calm down. The ball was still there, Lucky wasn't trying to steal it, and all I needed to do was stop digging and pick it up with my mouth. Simple as that."

But you had several 'freak outs'?
"Yeah...I kinda forget and kept repeating myself." Rusty chuckles as he picks up his ball and heads back out.

For every hole that I refilled, Rusty always had another one.

"Tree" feat. Miles

Much like how Shakespeare wrote many Sonnets, I wrote many poems (some more poem-ish than poem) today. One for each run that I partook in. Are they Sonnets? No. Are they of Shakespeare quality? Probably not. Are they funny? Most certainly. Read all of them. Read a few of them. Tell me which one was your favorite! Enjoy :)

Untitled Run #1
My name is Jake
I follow creepily behind you
Can you hear me breathing?
I'm breathing behind you.
I am your shadow
I'm still following behind you
Can you hear me breathing?
I'm breathing behind you
My name is Jake.
The Semi-Successful Pumpkin Patch
Great thought was put into where the rotting corpses of Fall's past would be laid to rest. Or maybe great thought wasn't and chance choose where the death of one Fall would grow life for new Fall. The baby vines stretched their veiny arms up and down the hillside. Pops of orange made their appearance. The dogs becoming curious sniffed more carefully at this new plant, marking their 'new discovery' as THEIR new discovery. Small green never before seen balls began to appear. Were these toys to be played with?

As days passed the dogs kept careful watch on this magical plant that grew toys. The pumpkins transformed from green to partially orange before the dogs decided that enough was enough. Plucking the pumpkins from their umbilical cords the dogs enjoyed their unusual toy until it broke open, its guts spilling out and serving up a delicious treat for the dogs to share and devour.

As summer turned into fall more pumpkins appeared. Plucked off and carried inside by human hands. We show of the semi-successful pumpkins that our fur-friends grew on their hill patch.
Feat. some lyrics from "Right Round" by Flo Rida
You spin my head right round
right round
when you come around
come, come, come around.
Pass my cabin
I bounce up and down
up, up, up and down.
You spin my head right round
right round
when you come around.
Open my door
I go right round
because you spin my head right round
right, right, right round.
Every door you open has me going right round
because you spin my head right round
right round.
Flirting with Disaster
What's the worse that could happen
when you play 'flirt pole' with a Mastiff?
You might get elbowed in the leg
or knock yourself in the head.
But worst of all...
the Mastiff could cut his corner too short
and plow into your 5'2 tall self
wobble you this way and that
waiting to see if gravity will finish the job.
He'll spin you around
dizzying yourself sick.
The fun of the 'flirt pole' is the danger that exists
when playing with a Mastiff.

One and One Make Two

A pair
Brother and sister
Fearless and ferocious
But only in bark
Peas in a pod
They match each other perfectly
One without the other would be odd
Their energy in sync with each other
Where Bexter goes, Kimby follows
One and one make two
What a pair!

You Drive Me Wild
with your bright brown eyes
your bad boy attitude
you strut your stuff like you own the place
your bark is your roar
you're the king of the jungle
make me your queen
and you'll be the happiest king
together we'll rule
turn this place upside down
the humans will obey us
we'll walk them around
think of our potention
quit driving me wild
tame me already
make me your queen

"Don't Rain On My Parade" feat. Hemi

Effortlessly pulled across
slick, wet floors
like water-skiing
or Dog Star On Ice!
The lack of traction
neither of us can stop.
Much like how I rollerskate
stopping the only way I know how
run into the wall.
A chain reaction occurs
having no more pull to go
his feet give up on him and he falls.
He slides to first base and
SAFE! shouts the umpire.
I've got the rainy day blues, do you? Everything appears so grey. Everything seems so blah. The sun took the day off and I want the clouds to go away. The shine may be gone in the sun, but it isn't in these furry faces. What could be better than seeing Hemi and Cappy become mud puppies? Or dancing with Mack! And hanging out with an Australian Shepherd puppy. Or seeing all our arriving friends. The weather may suck, but if you have good company who create their own sunshine the day will always be great!

DayStar of the Month ~ September 2014 is CeCe Koppes

DayStar of the Month ~ September 2014 is CeCe Koppes

This little gal started coming to the Ranch with no last name to call her own.  She was a foster pup through the Muskegon Humane Society looking for some socialization manners in October 2012.  That sweet little face won over the hearts of John and Stephanie and CeCe was soon a permanent member of their family!  We couldn’t be happier for them all!  In the beginning steps, she needed some help learning how to play appropriately with other pups, but now she loves playing with just about anyone you put her with.  She may be a 100 lb. dog in a 10 lb. package, but don’t let that fool you.  She loves to be pampered and cuddled when given the opportunity.  Without a doubt, she has some Beagle in her genetics as she has the vocals to prove it!  There is no way to describe that, but you can always tell when she has something to say!  CeCe is definitely a favorite among our staff and even one of our newest grooming member wants to bring her home on a regular basis.  CeCe is a special little gal that is loved by all of us at the Ranch!  We are so excited to share that CeCe Koppes has been voted the DayStar of the Month for September 2014!  Congrats CeCe!

We have a couple Birthday shout outs at the ranch today:
Little Buddy is turning 1!
Mac is turning 8!
Have a VERY happy Birthday boys, we love you both VERY much!

"Our first day at the ranch" feat. Tasha and Suede

Hi Mom and Dad, Tasha and Suede here, we just wanted to tell you a little about our first day at the ranch. We met some amazing new friends, Duke the doberman and Bud the springer, just to name a few. Oh, and how could we forget our star buddies for the day: Amanda and Allissa. Allissa took us on a walk in the park with our new friends, and let me tell you we are pooped! We may need a nap when we get home. We really enjoyed spending time outside on this beautiful fall day, you couldn't have picked a more perfect day for our first day of daycare. We really had a great time and we can not wait until we come again!
