A Love Story at the Ranch

Hey I am Konig the black schnauzer you will see around here sometimes. Today I met the love of my life! Lexis! She is a beautiful dog with white fur, perfect brown spots, and warm tan colored eyes! I met her today when we want on a walk with our Star Buddy. I just couldn't stay away from her at all, we walked together for what felt like hours just talking away. She apparently likes walks on the beach, or anywhere really; her favorite food is the edible kind and her activity is coming to Dog Star Ranch! We have soooo much in common I can’t wait to see her again I count the days!

Ever wonder what DSR doggie daycare is like from a Dog's Point of View?

Today is Woodrow's second day, but he wanted to share with you what he thought of his first day of doggie daycare last Thursday:

"Today was my first day at this place they call the Ranch and WOW was that overwhelming!  There was a lot going on. So many smells and sounds and people and other dogs. Jumpy hyper ones, barking ones, and yippee ones. You know, I am only 10 weeks old so all of this is so totally new to me. When  my mom dropped me off I was a little worried, but the humans were so nice to me! They introduced me to some other puppies, some I liked and some played to rough for me. I got to go outside and enjoyed walking around with these people and enjoying all of the freedom. I started getting tired and I think they noticed because they gave me a bed and I went right to sleep. When I woke up they took me back outside and for more play time. Then mom came and picked me up and it was time to go. What a great first day! That was so fun I hope my mom bring me back to the Ranch."

Mr. Dozer, a.k.a Mr. May:  "Today was another day at the Ranch and because it was such a nice day out we got to go to the pond. I love the pond!  It is one of my favorite places cause it cools me off and I get to try and catch these things that move around in the pond. I am not sure what they are but they are very fast and I don't know how to get one I just keep trying. Today was my special day with the trainers. They are so much fun and always take me on extra adventures around the park. They like to make me think when we go out and I like it a lot! It feels like an important job for me and I want to make sure that I am paying attention to them so that I do what they ask me to do. Today they brought Gus with them and that really made me happy. I like working with one of my friends, it is nice bonding time. They took us in the back woods and I think because I stayed by their side on the way there they took off our leashes and told us to run free. At first I wasn't sure what to do, what this a trick? But when they told us we were free to go run Gus and I looked at each other and took off running, and I knew I would beat Gus to the pond as I am a little faster. When we were half way to the pond I heard them calling my name, and Gus started to slow down. I didn't want to loose the race but I knew that I needed to listen to their call and Gus had already turned back, so I did the same. Much to my surprise they didn't have their leashes out and the fun was not ending. Instead they had an awesome treat to give me. I looked at the trainer and she let told me I was free to go run and play. What a cool game this is run around and play but come back and get a great treat. We played this game the whole way around the park and I have to say I think that this is one of my new favorite games!"

Miss Gentry Curran

It is with a very heavy heart that all of us at Dog Star Ranch say farewell to Gentry.  You were so greatly loved.  Thank you to your family for sharing you and your brother with us and allowing Gentry to touch our hearts and lives also…

Some memories from her Star Buddies:

When I think of Gentry I think of the many trips to the pond so she could try her luck at fishing, which she was never very successful at, and bows in her fiery orange curls. She was one of those dogs that everyone enjoys having here at the ranch and got along with everyone. My favorite memory of Gentry is of her lying on the back of the couch in the loft with a bow in her top knot as she waits to go home (TA).   Gentry was such a sweet and loving dog that I truly enjoyed hanging out with and watching her play with the other dogs or in the pond which is one of my favorite things about her that she loved the water so much.  She was a wonderful girl that will be truly missed (LR).  It’s still so hard to believe that Miss Gentry is no longer with us.  She was such an unforgettable girl that could brighten any day.  She’d wiggle that fuzzy back end and smile right at you that could just warm your heart.  Gentry, you are greatly missed by all of us at Dog Star and we will always remember how you could brighten any day.

A Special Place

You have a special place Dear Lord,
that I know you'll always keep.
A special place reserved for dogs,
when they quietly fall asleep.

With large and airy kennels,
and a yard for hiding bones.
With maybe a little babbling creek,
that chatters over stones.

With wide green fields and flowers,
for those who never knew.
about running freely under,
Your sky of perfect blue.

Lord, I know You keep this Special Place,
And so to you I Pray.
For one Special Doodle,
Who quietly died today.

She was full of strength & love,
and so very, very wise.
The puppy look she once had,
Had long since left her eyes.

She is dearly missed my Lord,
By a very good friend of mine.
She went to join her ancestors,
To Your land that is Devine.

So, speak to Gentry softly please,
And give her a warm hello.
She's a Special gift to you Dear Lord,
From Dog Star Ranch, who loved her so.
