Adding a dog to your family can be a fun adventure, but also needs to be well thought out. Before getting a dog, I recommend scheduling an appointment with our trainer to discuss what type of dog would be best in your family with your lifestyle. Do you want a dog that you can jog with? Are you a boater and want a water companion? Do you live on a farm in the country or a condo in the city? There are so many questions that we can ask to help determine what would be a good match for you.
Through our DSR My Way Home Program we can take it even one step further... Once you have had a consultation with our trainer, we can then go to Vector Control and see if there is a dog there that might fit the description. We can pick out a couple, bring them back to DSR and get to know them a little better and introduce them to you. Once we have found a match, we can put the dog into the program and prepare them for your home and family. We love being able to get dogs out of the pound and match them with their forever families!
Do you already have a dog that you are interested in, but not sure if your current dog will be happy with the addition? Schedule a day of doggie daycare for your current dog(s) and have the potential new dog come too! We can introduce them on neutral ground and help determine if they will co-exist in your home.
ALWAYS REMEMBER that when you bring home a new dog, there will ALWAYS be a "honeymoon" phase. It's generally the first couple weeks when a dog is in a new home and they are getting acclimated to their new life. You may run into challenges, but remember to work through them with positivity, patience, and help if needed. Dog Star Ranch is always there to help keep dogs in their homes in so many ways. Make sure to use us as a resource and assistance as needed. Make sure to get in touch with us if you have any questions about adding a dog to your family or if you have some issues you want to work through with your current dog or pack.
Give your dog somethin' to bark about today at Dog Star Ranch!

Why do dogs sniff each other’s behinds?
Why do dogs love to roll in dead things?
Why do dogs always slobber and snore?
