A dog’s heart beats between 70 and 120 times a minute, compared with a human heart which beats 70 to 80 times a minute.

If never spayed or neutered, a female dog, her mate, and their puppies could produce over 66,000 dogs in 6 years!

The only sweat glands a dog has are between the paw pads.

The ten most popular dogs (AKC, 2007) are in order:Labrador Retriever, Yorkshire Terrier, German Shepherd,Golden Retriever, Beagle, Boxer, Dachshund, Poodle,Shih Tzu, and Bulldog.

A greyhound can run as fast as 45 miles an hour.

Spaying/neutering your dog before the age of 6 months can help prevent cancer in your dog.

It has been established that people who own pets live longer, have less stress, and have fewer heart attacks.

Today we were all good little DogStars and we worked really hard on our geometry and shapes! We all ACED it and made sure to make lots and lots of circles in the parks! Some of us even made triangles and squares! That takes some thinkin' to make those 90 degrees at top speeds! I think tomorrow we'll be starting on our multiplication so make sure to come to Daycare with our thinkin' caps on and ready to go! Happy Thursday Everyone!

Mrs Green’s Dog & her Neighbor
Mrs Green was walking to the post office when her neighbor came up to her and said "Hello Janis, How’s your dog? I saw her yesterday chasing an old man on a bike."
"Oh" said Mrs Green "That could NOT have been my dog"
"Oh, why not?" replied her neighbor "I’m pretty sure it was her"
"Well" stated Mrs. Green smiling "my dog doesn’t ride a bike"

Q: What do dogs have that no other animal has?
A: Puppy dogs.

Bad Dog?
It was the end of the day when a policeman was parking his police van in front of the station. As he gathered his equipment, his K-9 partner, Spike, was barking, and he saw a little boy staring at him.
"Is that a dog you got back there?" the boy asked.
"It sure is," the policeman replied.
Puzzled, the boy looked at the office and then towards the back of the van. Finally
the boy asked, "So… What’d he do?"

10 Reasons Your Dog's hair cut costs more than yours
10. Your hairdresser doesn't wash and clean your rear end.

9. You don't go for 8 weeks without washing or brushing your hair.

8. Your hairdresser doesn't have to give you a sanitary trim.

7. Your hairdresser doesn't have to clean your ears.

6. Your hairdresser doesn't have to clean boogies from your eyes.

5. You sit still for your hairdresser.

4. Your haircut doesn't include a manicure or pedicure.

3. Your hairdresser only washes and cuts the hair on your head.

2. You don't bite or scratch your hairdresser. (I hope not anyway).

And the Number 1 reason your dog's haircut costs more than yours....

1. The likelihood of you pooping or peeing while your hair is being cut is extremely slim.

Tuesday, August 23rd

He is my other eyes that can see abovethe clouds;

my other ears that hear abovethe winds.

He is the part of me that canreach out into the sea.

He has told me a thousand times over thatI am his reason for being:

by the way herests against my leg; by the way he thumpshis tail at my smallest smile;

by the way heshows his hurt when I leave without taking him.

(I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.

When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.

When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.

When I am a fool, he ignores it.

When I succeed, he brags.

Without him, I am only another man. With him,I am all-powerful.

He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion.

With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.

He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.

His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things.

He has promised to wait for me...whenever...wherever--in case I need him.

And I expect I will--as I always have.
He is just my dog.

Fun Facts:

A dog can hear sounds 250 yards away that most people cannot hear beyond 25 yards. The human ear can detect sound waves vibrating at frequencies up to 20,000 times a second. But dogs can hear sound waves that vibrate at frequencies of more than 30,000 times a second.

Worlds smallest dog..... The smallest dog in history was a tiny Yorkie from Blackburn, England. At two years of age and fully grown this little dude was an incredible 2.5 inches tall by 3.75 inches long! He weighed only 4 ounces! HE was approximately the size of a matchbox.

A dog is a true friend, and one you can be certain will never talk about you, no matter what you do.

To a young, exercise and play are the day's most important events. As a dog gets older, he lives for dinner time.

Family dogs who growl when family members are roughhousing aren't upset, they're just asking to become part of the game.
