To parents of Foster Dogs through Pound Buddies and other rescues:

"The first thing is that I would like to inform everyone of a wonderful opportunitythat the Dog Star Ranch is providing to all the PB foster families! For the monthof January, (starting on January 7th thru the end of the month), the Dog Star Ranch,which is located at 4200 Whitehall Road in Muskegon, is offering FREE doggie daycare on Mondays and Fridays for the PB foster dogs. You can go on either Mondays orFridays or both. This is an AWESOME opportunity for your foster dog or dogs to getadditional socialization and care with an excellent group of caring andknowledgeable people. I took Conrad to DSR for obedience class and many other timesjust to play, so I can say from experience that they have a wonderful,trained staff! If you would like to take advantage of this great opportunity,please either call DSR at 231-766-0444 and ask for either Jen or Carol or e-mail Jen at jenn@dogstarranch.com . You will need to give them your name and your foster'sname and they will contact Connie to verify that you are eligible.

The second thing I would like to share with you is a success story about one of ourprevious foster dogs that DSR brought into their My Way Home program - Mickey. Hewas just recently adopted Smile!! The most recent information is all aboutMickey and his recent journey to his new family. DSR also has a great volunteer program that offers discounts on their membershipsand services, especially for foster dogs. You can either pick up a brochure,outlining the details, at the Shelter or ask me and I will make sure to get you one. Thanks!

Happy New Year to everyone from all of us at Dog Star Ranch! Murf wanted to remind everyone that we are running Daycare on Friday (12/31). The Wag-On-Inn closes at 12pm on New Year's Eve, but Daycare dogs can be picked up between 5pm-6pm. Just ring the door bell like you normally would in the mornings! Have a safe and ...happy New Year and we'll see you all in 2011!

Christmas time brings the best out of people. We are more caring towards others, always greet everyone you meet with a smile, and it brings the playful child out in all of us. Lets remember this feeling we get during Christmas and keep the spirit going throughout 2011! Just as our wonderful dogs treat every day as its Christmas with a happy wag of their tail and a kiss on the cheek, we should do the same and learn from our pups.

A Christmas story that needs to be shared with everyone!!

About a month ago, Steve and Lori had to say farewell to their loyal canine companion, Bart. Bart, the husky, was 11 years old and had spent his life living with Steve and Lori on their farm in Fremont. Towards the end of this life, Bart struggled with diabetes and required insulin injections twice per day, eventually leading to complete blindness in both eyes. After losing this lifelong friend and family member, they began searching the internet and found Mickey through Pound Buddies website. His smile captured their hearts right there and they came out to the Ranch to meet Mickey. They spent some time together out in the Special Use Park and decided that they wanted to try Mickey for a weekend visit. Friday Mickey went with Carol and Nick out to their farm for the first time and instantly felt at home.
Today Lori and Mickey came into the Wag-On-In with great news! He did great in their home and Steve and Lori want Mickey to join them, with Elf (the horse) and 3 cats (LT, Jazz, and Tazz) on their 10 acre farm in Fremont. Carol told Lori that this was the best Christmas gift for our DSR staff and Lori responded that is was the best Christmas gift for her family. Joyful tears followed by a laugh were had by all. Lori got to play with Mickey in the park today with a few Ranch dogs and Star Buddy Tyler before they headed home. If you see them out and about in the parks, definitely make sure to introduce yourself! Mickey may be a Ranch veteran, but Steve and Lori are new and look forward to their adventures in the parks with Mickey.
